The Early Years and Childcare sector continues to operate under the spotlight, with providers facing increasing challenges to remain sustainable.
Government funding and delivery models are changing, and the expectations of Ofsted and parents are continually rising, driving settings to push for improvements in quality and outcomes for their children. At the same time, most Local Authorities are reducing the support to their Early Years settings, intervening only where settings are experiencing significant difficulties or where places are needed.
Because of Local Government restructuring, many experienced childcare advisers and consultants have moved out of Local Authority teams and are now providing support to the sector independently. These independent professionals need a broad range of consulting and business skills to thrive in this new environment, so that the providers they support are better equipped to deliver high quality services whilst remaining sustainable.
The Childcare Business Advisers Programme, which is now in its 6th year, delivers high quality training which is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the UK’s leading professional body for managers, consultants and business advisers. The programme offers a choice of two qualification routes depending on the job roles undertaken by students.
The Professional Consulting Skills route has been specifically designed to enhance the skills and competencies needed by independent practitioners to provide effective support to owners and managers of childcare settings. This course is suitable for all advisers, consultants and trainers working with Early Years settings, and anyone considering setting-up as a consultant. Successful completion leads to the CMI Level 5 Award in Professional Consulting.
The Business Support Skills route is designed to help advisers and consultants who deliver business support to providers, regardless of whether you are employed within a Local Authority in work in an independent capacity. It is suitable for those whose role involves them in supporting setting with their business planning and advising them on sustainability issues. Successful completion leads to the CMI Level 5 Award in Business Support.
