So often in the UK we promote people into management and supervisory roles because they have been excellent at performing a particular task. And we expect them to somehow pick up the ability to manage other people doing the job. The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) recently described us as a nation of “accidental managers”.
I design and deliver training and development programmes to build the business leadership and management skills of your managers, from first line supervisors and team leaders through to senior executives. These programmes range from single half day events focused on a particular topic to modular programmes delivered over a period of several months, and programmes that include individual coaching to further embed learning. The aim in all cases is to build more competent, confident managers who can contribute towards the success of your business.
All of my courses are designed to appeal to a wide range of learners, and incorporate group discussions, team tasks, individual and paired reflection, input of technical knowledge, signposting to reference sources of underpinning theories, action planning etc. All of this ensures that I deliver training in a way that creates an excellent learning environment for participants.
I achieve this by:
• Demonstrating a practical understanding of people’s learning needs and preferences, so that I can relay information in a way that will be easy for participants to digest. My ability to assess people’s level of ability quickly and to adapt the delivery to meet their needs means that I ensure that I neither talk down to people nor talk over their heads.
• Offering support, reassurance and encouragement to motivate participants’ learning, and by sharing my own ideas and experiences to make it easy for participants to do the same.
• Understanding that enjoyment is a powerful aid to learning – I make sure that my workshops are interactive, practical and fun. Some of the best learning happens when people start laughing and relax.
As my courses are tailored to meet your needs, I can incorporate your own documentation and processes into the training. This ensures that the training I deliver has a high degree of relevance for participants.
I can incorporate a range of psychometric tools into your programme where relevant and would be happy to talk you through these.
